The Annual Meeting is one of the Chamber’s most well-attended events of the year, usually drawing more than 250 members, elected officials and guests. The event features a keynote speaker, a review of the previous year’s accomplishments and a look at the year ahead. The highlight of the luncheon is honoring through awards the businesses and leaders in the Morrisville area. |

2013 Ambassador of the Year

Mike Windley was awarded the 2013 Ambassador of the Year Award. Windley serves on the Morrisville Community Fund and is the community's most nurturing leader. In addition to all his support to the Chamber and the community, he still finds time to do his day job as a pastor at Bridge Community Church.
2011 Ambassador of the Year

Ms. Karen Monna was awarded the 2011 Ambassador of the Year Award. Monna is the Membership Engagement Director at the Cary Family YMCA, where she has worked for 14 years. Monna has been a Morrisville Chamber of Commerce Ambassador for three years.
2013 Annual Meeting
Michael Landguth, Airport director for the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority
Michael Landguth came to RDU in November 2011 and since his arrival, RDU has added several critical non-stop routes to key markets including California. He served as the CEO of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority prior to Raleigh. While serving there, he secured more than $70 million in grant funding for airport infrastructure development and then raised matching funds locally.
Landguth shared how there will be additional daily air services that will travel to major cities and hubs for Raleighand how they are going to focus on international routes.
Jeremiah Morris Community Steward of the Year Award
Lenovo was awarded the Jeremiah Morris Community Steward of the Year Award which recognizes companies that have a culture of giving back.

Lenovo is a 30 billion dollar company doing business in more than 160 countries. Its U.S. headquarters is right here in Morrisville and it employees more than 2,200 people. Last year, Lenovo accomplished two major goals. First, Lenovo became the world's largetst PC vendor and was listed at number 370 on the Fortune 500's global list. In addition to Lenovo's incredible positive economic impact on the area, Lenovo has made a great community impact as well.
James M. Pugh Small Business of the Year
The James M. Pugh Small Business Award was awarded to Triangle Rock Club. 
Triangle Rock Club, an indoor rock gym, opened in December 2007. TRC has 32 employees and is located off Morrisville Parkway near Chapel Hill Road. TRC describes its greatest achievement as "transformation and enhancement of the lives of many people by our enthusiastic sharing of our passion for climbing." TRC has tripled their revenues and has experienced an annual growth rate of nearly 50 percent the last three years. TRC is currently adding to its facility which will triple the size of the climbing terrain. When complete, TRC will be the largest and tallest climbing gym in a five-state region.
2012 Annual Meeting Highlights
Ryan Allis, founder of iContact, Wows Annual Meeting
Ryan Allis, the founder and CEO of Morrisville-based social media and email marketing company iContact was the keynote speaker at the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting held February 17. He is also the author of Zero to One Million; Chairman of Virante, a digital marketing agency in Raleigh; and an active angel investor of the Humanity Fund.
Allis shared the history of iContact which he launched in 2002 in Chapel Hill. In 2004, the company began growing exponentially beginning. Allis credited his success to hiring people smarter than himself.
Allis shared his company's philosophy of giving back called "4-1s" and that corporate giving must be first and foremost, not an afterthought.
Allis highlighted why Morrisville is a great place for his business. He referenced the talent, the cost of living and proximity to RTP as well as high tech businesses.
Allis finished out his remarks with a look to the future. He sees the following trends setting the stage for business.
- Cloud computing for software and data.
- Internet usage growing from the current rate of 2.1 billion to 4 billion by 2020.
- Social responsibility will be the new competitive advantage.
- Emerging and frontier markets are booming.
Allis's comments highlighted what a great time it is for businesses to grow, especially in Morrisville!
Jeremiah Morris Community Steward of the Year Award

The North Carolina Chef’s Academy was awarded the Jeremiah Morris Community Steward of the Year Award which recognizes companies that have a culture of giving back.
The Chef’s Academy, opened in August of 2010, is the Culinary Division of Harrison College in Indianapolis. Students receive hands-on training in the fields of culinary arts, pastry arts, and hospitality and restaurant management.
The Chef’s Academy has made an impact in the community through organizations like the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, The North Carolina Hospitality Foundation, United Way of the Greater Triangle and the National Football League’s Party with a Purpose. The Chef’s Academy also provides scholarships for high school students through its culinary arts competition.

James M. Pugh Small Business of the Year
The Morrisille Chamber of Commerce awarded Primrose School at the Park the James M. Pugh Small Business of the Year Award.
Primrose is an independently operated, education-based private school owned by Leslie Moore. Primrose currently employs 28 employees and offers care for 176 children. In the past five years, the school experienced 30- percent financial growth.
Primrose has practiced community engagement through its Spring Fling event, which raises childhood obesity awareness and money for the Ronald McDonald House, and Reach Out and Read.
